Our School Trip Suppliers
All of our transport options and accommodation meet the requirements within our externally verified Safety Management System.
Coach Travel
Adaptable Travel only uses a trusted selection of coach companies that are fully audited each year by our experienced and trained staff. Despite the existence of demanding national regulation and enforcement, Adaptable Travel goes even further to ensure a rigorous selection process for transport providers. We ensure all suppliers are fully licensed and meet with the relevant national and international regulations, including driver’s hour’s regulations. Additionally, on an on-going basis, Adaptable Travel audits all coach suppliers, which examines the safety management, vehicle maintenance, driver selection and breakdown arrangements. This is carried out by a trained auditor.
For all UK coach transport (excluding airport transfers), we always use fully executive coaches, to ensure that your group enjoy the highest of standards and comfort.
Executive Coaches – Normally 49 seats all executive coaches are fitted with seatbelts, toilet, video/DVD, reclining seats and air conditioning.
Double Decker Executive Coaches – Vary in size from 67 to 71 seats, the specification is the same as the Executive coaches but are split over two levels. These coaches are in short supply and therefore should be requested as soon as possible if required.
Standard Coaches – These vehicles tend to have 53 seats and are fitted with seatbelts, we only use standard coaches for some UK transfers. There are a small amount of larger standard coaches however they are in short supply.
Drivers Hours: Use of coach on your tour is subject to EU drivers hours regulations. Please let us know your itinerary so we can advise accordingly.
Air Travel
We can offer a full choice scheduled and low-cost airlines from a full range of regional airports. We will do a full search and source the most relevant times and the most convenient departure airport at the time of quotation. Increasingly, groups are choosing to fly with low-cost airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair due to the huge number of routes and low prices available. All air transport offered is regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority.
All our air tours are protected by ATOL 6870. Low-cost flights are subject to availability and we will require passenger names before we can make a booking.
Name changes:
All passenger names must be exactly as passports - any changes to names may incur a charge from airlines, which can be substantial.
Airline Baggage:
Whilst passengers can sometimes take a piece of hand luggage onboard, low-cost airlines charge for checked baggage, unless otherwise quoted this is not included as standard. Please note that baggage allowances change frequently and the hand baggage allowance particularly could change if the airline chooses to do so. Please refer to the airline in question for their baggage allowance.
Here is some more information for our most frequently used airlines:
Long Haul Flights
For Long Haul flights, airlines will be refunding the APD discounts after we have submitted the passenger details (API) which normally happens around 2 weeks before departure. Therefore, all passengers will have to pay the adult rate and then we will refund this money once the refund has been made by the airline.
Adult:Children Flight Ratios
Many airlines now enforce a strict 1 adult per 10 children ratio. Therefore, if you are travelling by air please check your group has a 1:10 ratio.
16 years old is usually the age considered an ‘adult’ by airlines. Therefore, if you have students aged 16+, these count toward the 1:10 ratio.
Ferry Travel
We utilise a full range of ferry companies for our tours ensuring we are able to source the most relevant times and routes for your chosen itinerary. All ferry companies used conform to independently recognised standards of safety.
Eurotunnel
We can offer a crossing via the Channel Tunnel instead of ferry if required for the majority of European destinations.
Rail Travel (including Eurostar)
We can offer a full range of rail journeys utilising all the independent rail authorities both in the UK and abroad. This can be a particularly good option for smaller groups.
Eurostar
Adaptable Travel work in partnership with Eurostar to offer your groups an excellent way to reach the continent from London or Kent. This allows you to reach over 100 destinations in Europe (sometimes with a quick change in Paris), whilst at the same time reducing your Carbon Footprint, making it the greener way to travel.
Train Travel is subject to availability. Early booking is recommended to secure dates and preferred times. The rate quoted is based on off-peak travel (excludes travel between 0800-1000, and 1600-1800), although all times remain subject to availability.
