Groups can stroll down ‘Kirkgate’ the museum’s Victorian street and get a feel for shopping and leisure in Victorian York, complete with a visit to the iconic Terry’s of York, the humble beginnings of the company who would give us the Chocolate Orange in 1932! Visitors can also explore the other areas of the museum including 1914 and war time Britain, The Sixties and York Castle Prison. The museum lets students explore the trends, fashions, technology, society and even toys of each period letting them develop an understanding for life in time gone by and how this has shaped the lives they lead.
