Located in the town Wieliczka in Southern Poland, Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest working Salt Mines in the World and has been producing table salt for over 700 years. It is now a very popular tourist destination where visitors can walk into some of the oldest parts of the mine at a depth of 135 metres exploring the 200km worth of passages and 2,040 caverns of varied size. Spread over nine levels, it has 300km of galleries with works of art, altars and statues sculpted in salt making a fascinating pilgrimage into the past of a major industrial undertaking.
