The Valkenburg Caves are an important part of the town’s history. Many of the buildings in the town were actually built using the limestone quarried from it. The caves have been used for many things of the years including acting as a refuge for local residents during war. The walls of the cave are covered in art stretching over a long period of time and depict the history of Valkenburg.
