The Royal Tapestry Factory or Real Fábrica de Tapices de Santa Bárbara as it is more commonly known in Spain, was founded by Phillip V following Spain’s loss of its Belgian territories, and their tapestry workshops. On your visit to the factory you and your students will be given a talk regarding the history of tapestry in the region and shown samples of historically relevant tapestries woven by masters. Your group will then be able to witness masters at work weaving sections of beautiful tapestry pieces using traditional methods you will discover in your talk. This visit is a truly unique exploration of a traditional and mesmerising method of art and one that is sure to inspire your students on their next creative project.
