This world-famous educational institution is widely accepted as the reason that Silicon Valley exists in its format today. David Packard and William Hewlett (HP) are members of the alumni, as are Steve Jobs, (Apple), Vinton Cerf (father of the internet) and of course Sergey Brin and Larry Page (founders of Google). Other companies that can be traced back to the Stanford alumni are Yahoo, Cisco Systems and Intuit. Take a tour of the campus, including the world-leading Computer Science Department (CSD) and the Computer System Laboratory (CSL) now housed at the Gates Building, and the intellectual wellspring of Silicon Valley innovation, and inspire a future generation of UK technology trail blazers. Hour-long, student-led are available on certain dates which on request can take in the Science and Engineering quad.
