Palazzo Ducale & Museo Correr
Near to the famous Ponte dei Sospiri, the magnificent Doge’s Palace is one of the most important buildings in Venice and is its very symbol. Once the centre of power from where the Venetian Republic was ruled, the Palace is now a major landmark with wonderful art from the likes of Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese. It is an exhaustive collection of smaller museums, a courtyard, and a trove of over-the-top ornamentation, including frescoed walls, gilded ceilings, and intricately carved statues and friezes.
Located in Venice's iconic St. Mark's Square, the Museo Correr is a hugely ambitious and celebrated museum which documents the history of Venice between the 13th and 16th centuries. Through an extensive collection of paintings, prints, sculptures and coins the history of Venice will be brought to life in beautiful creative works. Aside from its creative collection the museum also boasts a collection of weapons and military artefacts and regalia which document the military history of Venice throughout these centuries. The museum offers an exciting itinerary and fantastic information to support your students in discovering the art and history of this marvellously unique and iconic city.
