York is home to the worlds biggest rail museum the brilliant National Railway Museum, housing the UK’s collection of national rail trains as well as a collection of international trains including a Japanese Bullet train. This award-winning museum will take your students on a journey through the history of the UK’s industrial history, including the industrial revolution and how rail transport has shaped British society and continues to be a valuable and popular transport link throughout the UK. Students will even be able to sneak a peek inside the luxurious royal carriages once belonging to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, as well as the oldest carriage in Europe which belonged to Queen Adelaide. The museum offers expert talks about the many periods and pieces within their collection allowing your students to get an indepth understanding of their significance. The National Railway Museum promises to be an engaging and unique visit for students of all ages.
