The Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofia was opened in 1990 and has since been home to some of Spain’s most important national and international 20th century artworks. Amongst its substantial collection are world renowned and influential Spanish artists such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, whose works are recognised across the globe. The central part of the museum was a former 18th century hospital which was renovated and now forms part of the museum which offers an excellent free-access library specialising in art, which is home to over 100,00 books, 3,500 sound recordings and almost 1,000 videos. It is safe to say this museum lives and breathes art and will definitely breathe inspiration into your students’ future works.
