Life Science Learning Lab
Show all photos
In 1999 the campus Berlin-Buch opened a new kind of educational institution for gene and biotechnology - the Life Science Learning Lab. Here visitors can independently carry out gene technology and cell biological experiments in authentic research laboratories and discuss their concrete applications in research, medicine and biotechnology with scientists. Courses which run for approximately 3.5 hours twice a day allow students to work in a lab performing experiments such as extracting the DNA from a tomato. Elementary techniques such as DNA extraction, gene transfer or genetic fingerprinting no longer remain abstract, but become comprehensible and easier to understand.
