Holy Trinity Church
This picturesque building is well worth a visit for its tranquility and beauty alone. However many Shakespeare enthusiasts visit this church each year as it is the place of Shakespeares baptism, where he served as a lay rector of the church and his resting place. Standing since 1210, this church holds the tomb of William Shakespeare, who is buried next to his wife Anne Hathaway, in its Chancel. The Chancel has 26 carved Misericord seats, the seats depict Angels, Mythical beasts and men and women. Once, one of the first churches in England where an admission fee was charged, even in 1906 visitors were asked to pay six pence each to enter.Nowadays entry to the church is free but visitors are requested to pay a fee if they wish to visit the grave of Shakespeare. This beautiful building has much more to offer and is well worth a visit.
