Switzerland, with its abundance of water, is the European leader in the production of hydraulic energy. Situated at the head of the Val des Dix, the Grande Dixence is the highest gravity dam in the world. Each year it stores over 400 million cubic metres of water, used to turn turbines and create “Green” renewable energy. Guided tours inside the Grande Dixence dam are conducted daily between mid-June and the end of September.
