The German Historical Museum is Germany's national history museum and one of the largest history museums in the world. Located in Berlin's historical center, it sees itself as a place to strengthen historical judgment, where overarching philosophical, ethical and historical questions are negotiated.

The collections  of the German Historical Museum today include around one million objects. The German Historical Museum makes a large part of the exhibits available online in its database for research and the interested public.

The German Historical Museum also includes a public reference library with an extensive department for manuscripts and old and valuable prints.
