Geevor Tin Mine

Formerly known as Levant, this amazingly preserved tin mine is a historic tie to Cornwall’s rich mining history and the heritage of this fantastic area. Transporting students back in time your group will be able to take in not only the beautiful landscape but an industry that shaped this landscape and life in Cornwall for hundreds of years. Students can reinforce their learning in a visual environment with visits to the Hard Rock Museum which recounts the tales of the mining industry and with access to an underground 18th-century mine, experiencing traditional Cornish tin mining first-hand! Geevor mine is a valuable experience that allows students to understand Britain’s history on a wider scale and the significance of local histories and the roles they play in the tapestry of Britains heritage.
