Castle Rheinfels is an imposing medieval fortress overlooking the Rhine River in St. Goar, founded in 1245 by Count Diether V of Katzenelnbogen. 

This well-preserved ruin—once the largest castle on the Middle Rhine—includes extensive ramparts, vaulted cellars, the castle museum, and dramatic underground passages. 

Guided tours available in German and English.
