Botallack Mines
Show all photos
Another iconic landmark in Cornwall’s historic tin mining industry is the intriguing Botallack mine perfectly framed by Cornwall’s exquisite landscape. Perched on the foot of the cliffs along the Tin Coast are the famous Crowns Engine Houses. A Cornish Mining World Heritage Site this site is also famous as a filming location for UK TV series Poldark. Partially hidden by the landscape itself the remaining buildings of the mining community give the site a unique and interesting view into Cornwall’s past. The winding coastal walks are a great way to inspire your students with breath taking views and the contrast between the natural beauty and manmade structures from its historic industry add to its unique silhouette.
