The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum is amongst the most visited museums in the Basque Country coming second to the Guggenheim Bilbao. It was founded in 1908 as two separate museums opening in 1914 and 1924 which would later come together in 1945 when the current building was built. Decades later in 1970 a modern expansion of the museum was erected architecturally influenced by modern movements.

The 10,000-piece strong collection housed in this museum dates back centuries with works from as far back as the 12th century, stretching all the way through to contemporary pieces of modern art of today. Amongst the pieces within the museum your students will find paintings, drawings and sculptures representing of cultural and historical significance. The diverse range of work on show makes the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts a must for any art & design students, allowing them to discover new inspiration amongst the pieces on offer.
