Berlinische Galerie
The Berlineische Galerie is one of the latest additions to Berlin’s continuously growing abundance of art museums and galleries. The museum collects and houses artworks created in Berlin dating from 1870 onwards. The collection was founded in 1975 as a private collection and later opened the doors to its permanent home in 2004. The collection itself is displayed throughout a 4600sqm exhibition space and features works from varying disciplines such as paintings, graphic arts, multimedia and photography and sculpture and architecture to name a few. Some of the must-see collections are Dada Berlin, Eastern European Avant-Garde and The New Objectivity Collection as well as unique pieces inspired by Berlin’s political history throughout its division and reunification.
