Visit the Alcantara River Park which is home to the Alcantara River and the Alcantara gorges. Several thousand years ago the Alcantara river was blocked by a lava flow from an eruption of a cinder cone at Mojo Alcantara. The lava solidified to form huge basalt columns and over the years the river naturally eroded through to form the gorges.
