Barcelona & Costa Brava Geography

Prices from: £199 (Based on 3 Days, 2 Nights)

A school trip to Barcelona and the Costa Brava offers numerous case studies in human and physical geography. The Garrotxa Volcanic Park with its volcanic craters, pyroclastic deposits, lava flows and tossols affords the opportunity for the study of volcanism and plate tectonics.

A day trip out to Vall De Nuria Glacial landforms with its U-shaped and hanging valleys, moraines and cirques allows for the study of Glacial topography. For human geography topics the resorts of Sitges in the Costa Brava is ideal for the study of crowded coasts and tourism impacts. Barcelona itself is excellent for the study of changing urban environments, urban regeneration, industry and economic development. Barcelona and the Costa Brava is the ideal destination to put learning into practice.

Adaptable were fantastic! Helped me with some tricky internal politics going on, and could not do enough to help. The trip itself was fabulous, helped by great weather. Friendly coach drivers, Hostel was perfect for our needs, slight delay on flight but nothing which affected the itinerary.

The meal we paid £10pp for at the hostel was disgusting and looked like it was worth £2pp MAXIMUM, and there was no vegetarian option.
The drivers were friendly but didn't know a lot of where we were going and kept asking me where they could park etc, and of course I did not know because that was the responsibility of the company, not me.
There was also often not enough time on the itinerary to get between places, so for example, when we visited Garroxta (the volcanic park), we were supposed to have 3-4 hours and ended up only having 2 because there was not enough time between our concert rehearsal, our excursion and the concert.
Additionally, there was often not enough information on the itinerary, with missing postcodes or meeting points.
Having a rehearsal venue not in the hostel was also very inconvenient.
Overall I found this trip very stressful to be in charge of whilst away.

The restaurant that was chosen for our evening meal was not the best for the price. Everything was served with chips and no vegetables and there was some confusion about the ordering system before we left.
The remainder of the tour was very good and of educational value.
