Stemnet (science, technology, engineering and maths network) aim to use the 2012 Olympics to engage school kids in learning. Over the coming 12months in the lead up to the London 2012 games, Stemnet are launching a series of 10 challenges focused around London 2012. Each project will be run in conjunction with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (Locog), and various projects will range from designing the Olympic park to making a velodrome.

Pat Langford, Stemnet's director of programmes states "As 2012 gets closer, we hope the Olympic twist will really create a buzz for the after-school activities, and learning Stem subjects”. Langford outlines the importance of doing exciting and challenging things, and encourages learning outside the classroom.
