As the UK technology sector embarks upon changes to become a world leader in IT, the government enforced curriculum change from ICT to Computer Science is well under way.  Whilst this has undoubtedly created a swathe of headaches and extra work for teachers and schools, it does create some wonderful opportunities to help educate the next generation of IT wiz-kids, and help bolster the UK as a world leader in technology, programming and computers.

With this in mind, Adaptable Travel has seen a huge rise in the number of Computer Science related school trips to a wide number of destinations.  One of our most popular school trips that does a wonderful job of engaging students is a school trip to the Eurogamer Expo, now held in Birmingham.  Tickets do sell out very quickly for this fantastic event, however if you act soon then Adaptable Travel can help secure a school trip package to this technology event.

Eurogamer Expo is the UKs largest annual gaming and computer event all under one roof.  IT features everything from the latest games, consoles and hardware to some excellent developer sessions, retro gaming and latest industry announcements.  Visiting the Eurogamer Expo allows you, the teacher to engage students in the world of computer science, and offers an opportunity to bring what you experience at the Eurogamer Expo back into the classroom to inspire future learning and shape future lesson plans.

If you would like something a little more adventurous, why not take a trip to Geneva, to visit CERN and the ICT Discovery Centre.  Widely regarded as the world’s largest and most important science experiment, CERN is also the birthplace of the internet and possesses some of the most powerful computing anywhere on the planet.  Add to this a trip to chance to visit the ICT Discovery Centre in Geneva, a unique perspective into past, present and future IT with workshops on offer.  This trip allows students experience computer science in the real world context, and with a real scientific and technology slant.

As another option, why not take a trip to the Holy Grail for all computer enthusiasts – Silicon Valley on the USA West Coast.  Home to Google, Apple, IBM, Intel, Ebay and some of the world’s greatest technology companies, the USA West Coast offers some fantastic visits for computer science studies.  In addition to the obvious attraction of the Silicon Valley, the USA West Coast provides some amazing and unique attractions including the beautiful city of San Francisco, the Silicon Valley Intel Computer Museum, the Computer History Museum and the Tech Museum.  This is the ultimate Computer Science school trip.
