Over 1000 pupils from primary and secondary schools will get the chance to meet authors who are appearing at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

Pupils from Blairgowrie High School were amongst the first to schools to meet Award-winning author Bernard Beckett, who will visit the school on Thursday, August 27, thanks to the Festival’s outreach programme, organised by Scottish Book Trust.

The New Zealand born author is a former teacher of Drama, Mathematics and English, and is currently teaching students at Hutt Valley High School in Lower Hutt.

A spokeman from the Scottish Book Trust spokesman stated “Taking authors to schools is a large part of Scottish Book Trust’s year-round work, but the EIBF outreach programme gives us access to writers who would not be available outside of the festival".
