School trips to the Belgian Battlefields have recently been given a huge boost with the news that David Cameron has pledged £5 to help ensure pupils from every state school in the UK has the chance to visit the Battlefields. Adaptable Travel can today announce that we are matching that pledge to give free places on Battlefield school trips.
With Remembrance Sunday fresh in our minds, it provides a sobering opportunity to remember the fallen of WW1. With the 100 year anniversary of WW1 approaching in 2014, a new £5 million fund has been launched by the government to fund a minimum of two students and one teacher from every state school in the country to visit the Battlefield sites between 2013 and 2019. This pledge has been matched by Adaptable Travel, who are offering school trips to the Battlefield sites with free places for an additional teacher and two free students on each group trip booked.
There can be no more vivid experience for school pupils than to visit the sites of the fallen on a memorable and inspiring school trip with an expert battlefield guide. To be able to see battlefield sites such as Hill 60, Essex Farm, Thiepval Memorial and Menin Gate allows your students to understand the mind-boggling context of the Great War, and bring some perspective to this devastating piece of history. The sites become even more impacting when led by an expert guide who is used to working with school groups, something Adaptable Travel pride ourselves on providing with each and every Battlefield tour.
Adaptable Travel Sales Manager Matt Connelly commented:
“The government pledge is a fantastic idea. I remember when I visited the Belgian Battlefield sites at school, it changed the way I viewed the world and I remember it to this day. Every child should have the opportunity to visit these sites to pay their respects and learn from the past, and the 100 year anniversary will hopefully allow more students than ever to see what happened for themselves”.
Adaptable Travel Free Place Pledge
To mark the 100 year anniversary of World War One, Adaptable Travel will match the government pledge and provide free places for two students, and one additional teacher (in addition to the 1:10 free place ratio already in place) on every Battlefield trip booked for 2013 onwards. See more info...
Places leading upto the 100 year anniversary in 2014 are expected to sell out fast, which is why you can reserve your places with a holding deposit of just £100 at Adaptable Travel pre-reserved accommodation.
