Prizes were presented to pupils from Weston Village Primary School after winning the 'Where in the World' competition run by Cheshire East council.

After beating off competition from over 500 other entrants within their area, Clr Simon visited the school to present the prizes for winning the competition to make a drawing or painting of where they would like to go for their ideal school trip.

The Mayor, her consort and Keith Cutler from the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce were given the unenviable task of picking a winner. Eventual winner Georgia Buckingham, aged nine, was the lucky winner and was presented with a Nintendo Dsi during a morning assembly.

Mr Haase said: “School trips are difficult to organise. Keeping the children safe is no easy task, but is a schools first priority.

"We decided to run this competition to highlight the importance of education outside the classroom".
