Adaptable Travel will help you develop your itinerary based on your requested activities, please see below an example for a Religious Studies focused trip to Rome:

After arriving in Rome your group shall transfer to your choice of hotel and check in. You shall then embark upon a guided walking tour where you shall see the stunning Pantheon, Trevi Fountains, Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona. This walking tour will allow you to experience the cities rich culture and breath-taking sights. Afterwards, enjoy a scrumptious welcoming meal in a local restaurant before heading back to the hotel and settling down for the night.

Today, you will have a guided tour of Vatican City, Sistine Chapel and Church of St Peter’s. Vatican City is actually the world’s smallest country and it is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It is home to the pope, who does formal appearances every Wednesday, and a must see for any first time visitors. In the evening, you will have your meal in another local restaurant before returning to the hotel.

To start the day, you shall visit the iconic Colosseum which is often known as the emblem of the Roman Empire and remains an extremely popular tourist attraction. Next, visit the beautiful Roman Forum and Palatine Hill which was home to the most rich and important Romans, including Emperor Augustus, the founder of the Roman Empire. After a spot of lunch, you shall visit the uplifting Basilica of St John Lateran, followed by the Santa Scala, the holy stairs which are reputed to be those walked up by Christ. In the evening, you will have your meal in another local restaurant before returning.

After checking out of the hotel, you shall visit the Catacombs to explore the ancient Christian burial passageways which house 3rd century frescoes and the crypts of martyrs and popes. If there is free time before your return flight to the UK, you may wish to squeeze in a visit to another basilica or some local sightseeing / shopping for souvenirs before transferring to the airport. By the end of the trip, your students will have a greater understanding of why the city has remained an important centre for Christianity, and will have learnt more of the beliefs, practices and teachings.
